#ChallengeDerbyshire is a collaboration of three vital local charities, who rely on donations, to provide specialist care and support to people with any
life-limiting or serious illness living in North Derbyshire. Working together the three charities aim to raise as much money and awareness as possible to deliver their common purpose of supporting people to stay in their own homes and have the best quality of life.
David Hopkins, Managing Director of Markovitz says "we are so lucky to have the services of these three charities; Ashgate Hospicecare, Blythe House Hospice and Helen's Trust, supporting people across North Derbyshire, the High Peak and Dales. I have seen first hand the difference they make and as a local business owner I am proud to support them to ensure they are still here for years to come. Supporting #ChallengeDerbyshire has had a positive impact on Markovitz staff who have done their own fundraising as well as taking part in activities we have organised. It has been a great way to harness a community spirit across all of our depots. There is a growing need for the services these three charities provide and I hope other local businesses will join us in ensuring they can deliver care to everyone who needs it by getting involved in some way."
Having a diagnosis of cancer or any serious or life-limiting illness is a real challenge for the person and their family. The services provided by Ashgate Hospice care, Blythe House Hospice and Helen's Trust are free of charge, so they need your help to continue their vital services in your community.
Why not set yourself a challenge and raise money for our three vital local charities. Whether you decide to give up alcohol for a month, or something more energetic, the money you raise will help local people. Our target is to raise £100,000 which will give each charity an extra £33,333,
This could pay for all of the following:
439 people to receive a home visit from an Ashgate Hospice care nurse
1,320 Complementary Therapy Sessions for clients at Blythe House Hospice
10 hours of night care for 222 people, coordinated by Helen's Trust
Blythe House Hospice adds quality to life by providing the highest levels of care for people affected by cancer and certain other life threatening illnesses and supporting those who are bereaved. Over 1000 people access Blythe House Hospice services every year.
Ashgate Hospicecare is a local charity providing care to people across North Derbyshire, with any life-limiting illness, helping them to live for every day. Ashgate Hospicecare Nurses make 3,000 home visits every year.
Helen's Trust aims to help remove the barriers that may be preventing a person from staying at home by funding
and providing care and equipment. Helens Trust helps over 150 people with terminal illness across North Derbyshire every year.
